A lyrical vibe, from 2007…
Machine
From the slap of our first breath,
until the sweet release of death,
we are taught to serve and please,
sacrifice to other’s greed.
To be seen, not to be heard,
silent, still - not one more word,
no behavior outside the norm,
creative thought - maligned and torn.
Parental types and teachers smile,
preparing us for rank-and-file,
and once groomed out of our dreams
we are fed to the Machine.
Unholy Powers with usury faith,
and propaganda… we can’t escape,
shaping us through stream and song,
’til we don’t know right from wrong.
They grease the gears of servitude,
piece-by-piece destroying you,
eroding all that makes you strong,
until the spark of life is gone.
Trapping you in daily grind -
eradicating the heart and mind,
assuring you can’t eat or breathe
unless you trust in the Machine.
They offer toys at the right price,
to keep us preoccupied,
for if we’re tranced we will not see,
the tearing down of Liberty.
The boundaries are worn away -
a ‘favored’ slave is still a slave,
the gap’s more narrow than you thought,
between the haves - and who have not.
The choice is here, not part but whole,
get less from them - retain your soul,
live on the fringe… and truly free
or be consumed by the Machine.

Fantastic work. The emotion you can incite in such few words is a talent many people don’t have.
When public schools insist they care about our children, I cringe.. the bus, the cafeteria, the bathroom passes.. fall in line … now they even force parents to STAY AWAY…. You can’t just pick up YOUR child.. crazy.
