Pen And Sword

Doing a test of Substack's video feature
55

As I mentioned previously, I have been working behind-the-scenes on The Stone Age over this holiday break, testing out different features and whatnot. As I want to give you - the valued members, subscribers and visitors to this page - the best possible experience, I must explore the various bells-and-whistles Substack has to offer.

As such, I am testing the ‘video’ feature, to learn how it works and see if it is something that might add value to my newsletter and site. To do this, I chose a video I dropped a couple of years ago; people seemed to enjoy it on the previous platforms on which I posted it, so I wanted to run it through the very-discerning ‘Stack gauntlet.

Please note that I have NO intention of using ‘video’ to replace my written works; I am a writer first and - unless rendered by Nature incapable - I shall always be. That to me is non-negotiable.

No, I am more looking at this as an occasional, added-value kind of thing, where I have fun stretching my creative muscles while providing entertainment and maybe even provoking a thought or two. Each will clock in at no longer than a minute or so in length, with a new one being posted no more than once a month.

After all, this is not YouTube or Rumble, nor TikTok or even Clapper (what the blazes is THAT app about?), thus I very much plan to ‘stay in my lane’ for my regular posts and emails. And I only plan to do this IF - a big ‘if,’ both figuratively and literally - such videos actually do add value to your time here.

Oh, and in case you are wondering? I am most certainly going to re-launch short (because, as regular readers know, brevity) audio features in 2024; how I intend to use these is being finalized in my brain this week, but they WILL be coming back. Again, only so doing while staying in my proverbial “writer’s” lane.

But for now? The video test; hope you enjoy it…
