While this ‘breakthrough’ occurred back in October, they did not announce it until today.
A species, which Nature chose to eradicate, being resurrected… by those whose vaunted ambitions are only surpassed by their unbridled arrogances.
I have been, and thus remain, convinced that today’s scientists - these foolish, reckless, unethical scientists - will be the ones who destroy us.
Perhaps that has been their goal, all along…

-- EDIT: Apparently other ‘scientists’ are disputing the company’s claims that they were actually able to ‘de-extinct’ the dire wolf, since they merely genetically-altered a grey wolf for this ‘conversion.’ However, the unethical nature of the claims in of themselves allows the story to stay as it stands, at least for the moment.

I am tired of "scientists" who want to play God. Where are these wolves going to live? What animal are they going to displace? Who will be responsible if they wreck havoc on the ecosystem of wherever they're released? What if they kill people? What if they aren't suited to living today, as opposed to however long ago they said? What are the side effects of this CRISPR technology? Is it even true? They lie all the time about this stuff, what if they're just ordinary wolves? Where is the money coming from for this?
At the risk of sounding skeptical, I call bullshit. Similar to covid virus bullshit.
