So the news broke this morning, courtesy of the debut of the self-produced The Tulsi Gabbard Show on YouTube; Tulsi Gabbard is officially leaving the Democrat Party.
Okay, so who didn’t see this coming? Honestly, it took longer than I expected it to take; that noted, it is still huge.
I have been watching Gabbard closely ever since the epic smackdown she applied to then-presidential candidate Kamala Harris in the primary debates; she smoked the future VP like Wille Nelson on a weed-bender.
While she has always been a bit of an outlier in her now-former party, her continuous shift to the Right has been subtle yet obvious to those paying attention; many of those on the ‘Farther-Right’ have been claiming Gabbard as their own for quite some time, though she pushed back against the more ‘radical’ assertions.
In the video below she calls out globalism and anti-white racism, while supporting ‘culture war’ issues and - wait, what? - the second amendment; these cannot be taken lightly, nor dismissed thoughtlessly without consideration.
(The last of those is truly shocking to me; I was fond of saying back in 2020 that Gabbard was one amendment away from getting full support from the Right - it appears that MAYBE she has learned that lesson.)
So the question I am seeing today from both conservative stalwarts and conspiracy mavens is, ‘Okay yeah, but can we trust her?”
A valid question, considering aspects of her past.
After all, we are talking about a woman who was named a ‘Future Leader,’ by Klaus Schwab’s World Economic Forum (WEF) in 2015; that is some serious ‘power juice’ one cannot cast aside carelessly.
However, over the last two years she has not only spoken out against virtually EVERY globalist scheme that organization has fostered, but against the WEF itself… and not in gentle terms.
If she IS ‘controlled opposition’… it appears they have lost control over her.
[UPDATE: 08/15/2024: According to Gabbard, not only was she never informed of her addition to the WEF list… they never asked for her permission to be included. She has never been invited to Davos events, and had no association (political or otherwise) with the org- SB]
One also has to consider her earlier life; with her father being a strict Catholic and mother a devout Hindu, she was raised with socially conservative values… values which may be resurfacing as she becomes more seasoned.
Then there is the fact she is an active duty member of the United States Army, and not just with tours serving stateside; she has actually been in combat as a specialist with the “Medical Company, 29th Support Battalion, 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team” (Wikipedia).
That too, cannot be flippantly dismissed.
With all of this noted, let us return to the question: “Can we trust her?”
While I am going to need time (and evidence) to process her apparent shift on the second amendment, much of what she is espousing in the video above tracks with what she has been proclaiming for the last two years; if she is merely angling for acceptance in the mainstream Right, taking positions that align more with Ron Paul than Sean Hannity isn’t the ideal path on which to embark.
Also bear in mind: Gabbard did not switch parties (never declaring herself a member of the Republican, or any other, party), she only asserted that she cannot support the vile Globalist agenda of the hard-left Democrats; while this may eventually change, for the moment it is an independent streak which I can admire.
So are we getting a politician who is just pandering for future gigs, or a ‘trojan horse’ sneaking in to destroy the Right from within… OR is the real Tulsi Gabbard - completely free of Party influence - fully coming to the surface?
Ultimately only time can tell, but for now I am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt and see where she takes all this; she’s been consistent (and hardcore) these last two years, taking stances that are endearing her to no one in the mainstream (in either party) while making herself a pariah to the globalist cabal.
I do not believe ‘cautious optimism’ is unwarranted here, at least for the immediate future; what can I say - ‘hope’ truly does spring eternal.
Congratulations, Ms. Gabbard, on your official liberation.
