For an in depth (and beautifully constructed) analysis of exactly how these scum are coming after rural farm communities, please read Elizabeth Nickson’s book “Eco-facists”. I highly recommend her weekly substack “Welcome to Absurdistan”.
That’s a great book. Thanks for mentioning it. Another book I absolutely loved is A Bold Return to Giving a Damn by Will Harris. He is a fourth generational farmer in Bluffton, Georgia. When I consider whom I could really work for these days, since I ditched my Armani for Carhartt gear, it would be him. As an unintended consequence of returning to regenerative farming practices, he revitalized his small town, which had become a ghost town.
One thing is for sure, if you don’t know that you need actual tools to tune up a lawn mower (or that lawn mowers need tuning) or have a better MANicure than I have, I cannot work for you. I’m just gonna say that the suburbs have quelled all common sense. I need to be with the people who know how to get actual shit done.
Thank you for your heartfelt post. As a small rancher, we face the Beef Cartel that keeps our costs high and prices low. The FDA and USDA are not our friends. Buying local is always welcomed. I’ve watched Rollins tour the country giving speeches that get worse by the minute. Most ranches in my state are family owned. None of my neighbors hire illegals. If we need extra help, we all pitch in. Now we may have to sell to developers, which would crush my soul.
That's heartbreaking, M; I pray that another solution presents itself, and soon.
While I know those Davos monsters are lusting after our privately-held farms and ranches, if enough local people will start thinking 'local first,' maybe we can turn the tide and maintain that way of life. It's too important - YOU ALL are too important - to 'living Natural', so it (and those who manifest it) must be saved.
What the monsters are lusting after is the high quality lithium deposit under a tri-state area: AK, LA & Texas. Lithium mining will ruin the land so many ancestors have labored over and loved through generations. So far, we’re banding together to push back, but even together we are small. Without real federal support, my ranch will either be poisoned, or some bougie asshole’s vacation property. Btw, we wear Carhartt too. Thank you for your kind words.
I hear you clear, M. I've discussed the drive (no pun intended) for lithium, and the genuine environmental damage mining it does to the areas around those mines. Sickens me to know end, but the greedy keep trying to pull those levers of influence.
Happy to hear folks are coming together to stand against their schemes - sometimes, it only takes a few to drag the feds into the picture on THEIR side, and thus really making a positive difference.
And I am in no way surprised you are part of the 'Carhartt Clan' ;-)
I think a case could be made to consider the act of lobbying a governmental individual or group a violation of the RICO act in that, while it is not violent in the criminal sense, it is paying protection money for favours and thus constitutes unfair business practices. And while we are at it, subsidies also seem to come under the Unfair Business Practices Act.
'Legal mind' or not, makes plenty of sense to me! Of course, the problem is no one in power wants to hold others in power accountable, because all of them have skeletons they are terrified will be unleashed for scrutiny.
It's one giant blackmail scheme, and the threat of 'mutual destruction' keeps everyone quiet :-\
I saw something recently talking about how they use the fake "pcr" to test to make claims against small farmers and GMO seed usage so they can sue them and use this fraudulent testing for their agenda beyond just the medical scam.
Illegal farm labor goes against everything Caesar Chavez fought for when he organized the United Farm Workers giving farm laborers decent wages and working conditions.
And by the way, there is no excuse to hire illegal aliens for agriculture, hotel, construction, landscaping, and domestic jobs when visas were designed specifically for these industries. H2-A visas covers agriculture, and H2-B visas covers construction, landscaping etc. It’s easy to apply, and approval is a short time. Those entering legally on a visa are offered a good salary, as well as room and board. I live on thousands and thousands of acres of oranges and all of the workers are legal using the easily accessible visa program.
That Center, Valley from California where I live is one of the most riches farming land in the world. The effects of illegal immigration to this area has been devastating for everybody.
Are you familiar with Victor Davis Hanson who wrote the book Mexifornia about 25 years ago? He shed a lot of light on how illegal immigration has negatively impacted our communities. His book is worth a read. Here is a pretty good video.
You are so right about Chavez, Charlotte - he did NOT cotton to illegals, and if memory serves me right he had falling outs with several Democrats because of it. While I may not have always aligned with him politically, he was a true pioneer, no doubt.
And thank you for your perspective from Ground Zero of this fight. I agree, there is NO reason to hire illegals, except to pay them dirt-wages to save a few bucks. Despicable, yet for some reason many in DC are protecting those vultures.
Yes, I wasn’t in supportive much of what Cesar Chavez stood for politically. Because of his efforts, we lost two of our best. Independent grocery stores in the 70s. There are some people who absolutely hate him. Many farmers, especially because the protests were not peaceful. For instance, a chain-link fence surrounds our home property with Barbwire put their during the protest to keep the farm workers from destroying our homes. It wasn’t a good time in history. But, in the end, he did manage the pole, the farmworker out of poverty, and give them a chance to succeed as an American.
One of the biggest problems here where I live is human trafficking. So let’s just call them what they are, slaves. And they are the illegal immigrants brought here with a promise of a new life.
A few years ago, our sheriff warned residents in our county to not do business with roadside kiosks, which sell everything from tacos to produce chainsaws to bicycles to home appliances. You name it, because they are slaves controlled by the cartel. And we thought slavery is a thing of the past, right? No, it’s right here quietly functioning.
The question is if the sheriffs department understands, this is human trafficking, why aren’t they doing anything?
By the way, I sent you a message on TikTok. It’s an invite to be a beta tester on the new Truth Social TV.
Song of the day: George Harrison Give Me Love Give Me Peace On Earth. He was the only Beatle my father was friends with. It seems to be an appropriate song for this week since criminally insane people are running the world.
Good tune for the times, Elizabeth. And funny you should mention George Harrison - I have been on record as stating he was the best Beatle, and in my opinion it's not really close :-)
Question: do you or anyone else you know ever wake up and think, “I live in an asylum run by lunatics?” I do all the time now. I have a supposedly genius IQ (top 2% of the population, no kidding, it may be higher as I did not even finish the damn thing and still scored 147) and I cannot figure out why so much destruction is necessary…to other humans, animals, the earth that I so love. It is a puzzle I cannot figure out. If you have any insight, I’d appreciate it. If not, that’s fine, too.
Oooh Elizabeth. I don't really have any 'insights' per se... but I DO have opinions LOL I am still fully fleshing them out, however, because - as I think your question might be the most important one we can ask right now - I want to the answer as 'right' as I am capable.
And yes, like you the "loons running the bin" thought crosses my mind far too frequently these days...
I am definitely open to opinions. Thank you for answering because I am constantly asking myself, “if all this destruction is “normal” then maybe it is me who is the complete weirdo.” I will look forward to any opinion you have to offer.
The Living In the Material World album is great and on steady repeat this week. I took my little friend with Druvet Syndrome swimming today, met a lovely woman who works with veterans to get them housing, help with addiction and the PTSD they suffer. She’s a Navy Veteran herself. For the life of me, I cannot comprehend why we do not have people like her running things. People like that don’t typically even make the news. I seem to have some data missing from my human handbook because I do not understand this world. Anyway, have a nice end to your week.

Agreed, already a subscriber *salute

Upside-Down world...
