Twister was a superior film in every way. I caught it last night and thought finally someone reimagined then surpassed a classic from my early adult years. Great article Stone.

Thanks, Kristin - happy you enjoyed the piece, and ALSO happy to see you thought the same; one never knows if their thoughts are just their own, so agreement is always appreciated LOL.

Always! Umm and touché, it is kind of nice to agree even if it’s slightly ironic in this particular thread. I am looking forward to reading your next real movie review 🍿

Inorite? I did not realize in advance the tickets would be that cheap, was expecting to pay much more! :-) Must be a smaller-town-rate kind of thing LOL

Senior pricing at the movies is lovely. I can afford popcorn now ☺️

I didn't ask about a senior rate - I keep forgetting I am technically in the group now LOL

Gotta ask. I’ve been doing it since I was 40. The brain-dead employees could give a shit.

Our movie theater charges 6$ for an adult ticket… we don’t go often, but maybe I’ll go see twister

Definitely worth the $6.00, in my opinion - drop a note if you go, and let me know if you enjoy it as I did :-)

Downloading, or I mean, buying Twisters right now...thanks man. Decent entertainment is in short supply these days.

Worth the 'price' of a 'download'... no doubt LOL I enjoyed it, at any rate ;-)

You mean no throwing up, animal sex, crude mean angry small town cultural misfits and on top of that, no dumbass political messages? Wow!

I was stunned as well - just quality entertainment which doesn't talk-down to a large segment of its audience. Shocking, I know ;-)

I liked the first Twister movie and even saw it at the theater. I usually don't watch any of the "end of the world" global warming movie nonsense and won't go see Twisters. I'll watch it on TV if I can. If any movie I see has a smidgen of wokeness, I turn it off. Hollywood is super fascist and that is why I might see one movie a year in the theater if I can find something worth seeing.

Thanks for the review but give a good old time western any time. These clowns would never make a movie like "100 Rifles" from back in 1969.

Just came home from the Cinema, ( I'm from the Netherlands) I went to see the movie with my son who's 11 years old and it was completely age appropriate I have to say, no LGBTQ nonsense for a change so we did enjoy the movie very much, great music too but I did notice however the agenda about geo- engineering, cloud seeding with iodide silver to be precise and they portray it as something positive in the movie of course so that I found to be disappointing but not completely unsurprising because hey, it's still Hollywood after all!

author

I agree, Mary, that whole silver iodide nonsense gave me an eyeroll, along with a couple of little sly little nods to the Agenda here and there - as you said, it was still Hollywood LOL

However, like you noted, compared to the onslaught of overt social-preaching we have been getting non-stop from that cabal... 'Twisters' was indeed a rare treat :-)

Thanks for the comment, and for being here - appreciate ya!

Well stated as usual. I am looking forward to seeing the movie when it comes out in the streaming (or heaven forbid) free realm of movies. Theaters just don’t cut it for me anymore. Keep up the great work

Thanks for sharing, I was wondering about this reboot, you have given me faith that it will be worth the watch. If more writers , directors and producers in Hollywood would learn from this lesson the entertainment business might actually become entertaining again.

I agree, it would alter their entire business model if they did, but I don't see it happening; they are too invested in their 'ideology.' Shame, really... but at least we got this one 😉

Thanks so much for the gracious comment, hope you enjoy it!

I want to get my family out of the city so badly. I have been wishing for the opportunity to get to one of these small towns you speak of for a couple years now. We really want to get as close as we can back to nature. We live in Portland or right now

I'm still working to get to where I want to be myself, so I understand that desire and drive!

And living in Portland? Ugh, even when I lived there back in the early nineties it was getting bad. Loved Mt Hood, though 🥰

Ya the cascades are the prettiest mountains I’ve seen and I’ve been everything west of Illinois which is where I started. The fishing too I can’t leave it! I just want out of the city, bad is not even close to what is happening here it’s completely toxic, and scary to be honest!!

Love that! I’ve been on the hunt for movies with good storytelling for a while! They are few and far between. I’ll have to check this one out. Is the 5.75 on the ticket the price you paid? If so, well done sir. A regular movie ticket in Los Angeles is like $20 now. F that.

author

😂😂 $5.75 indeed! It's a theater in a mid-sized town, and with the hit Hollywood has been taking? I think they've had to cut prices to stay in business 😉

Glad you liked the review, appreciate it - hope you enjoy the film as well! 🫡

I remember the finale tornado in the 1996 Twister movie, and I could hear comments around the theater like “bullshit, they’re not that big” and so on. Only a few, most in the theater we’re taken in by the movie.

Then in 1999, the Moore, OK tornado happened. Actual footage from a well known (at the time) storm chaser revealed scenes like the movie. Him racing down an Oklahoma highway, the chase truck dodging falling debris, the video pan to the 1/2 mile wide funnel flattening everything in its path, a live scene that eclipsed the movie. For those interested, this tornado went on grow a mile wide, produced 300mph+ winds and took out 8000 houses.

I remember those naysayers as well, Glenn; you're 100% correct, 1999 was indeed a huge wake-up call!

Although I do have to admit the notion that two people surviving an EF-5 tied to gas-pipes by leather straps - in the OPEN - was a little silly LOL The debris alone would have undoubtedly ripped them to shreds.

But I still loved the movie, so no big to me :-)

I loved the sequel as well, with one exception. God Bless the goofy-ass and talented Billy Paxton in any movie—RIP ☺️

Thanks for this review! I agree wholeheartedly I am tired of Hollywood shoving messages down our throat! I see this on a trip to see my grandchildren they persuaded Grandma to come along and I enjoyed it very much. I have lived smack dab in the middle of tornado alley for a time but somehow never have actually experienced one Thank God! I lived the portrayal of hard working come together and help each other small town folk because it’s true all over the world it’s true. I lived in a very small town in Canada not even a street light and I known people from small towns in Europe God bless them for being there for their neighbors!!!

I didn't care for the original Twister. It just felt like an excuse to showcase their computerized special effects. If I see this one on Netflix, I might check it out, though.

I can understand that, Kerry - I was into the SFX at the time, so I loved it. This one, however, has a little more 'story' to it, at least in my opinion, and is more character-driven than its predecessor :-)
