So, so, soooooo 😅 absolutely agree...

I grew up in the 70’s - 80’s also and I absolutely love disco 😅🤦🏻‍♀️- I don’t think you can find a ‘sad’ , ‘cry me a river’ song from that genre ... And - love how a song can take you right back to not only ‘where’ you were the first time you heard it - but - your own personal feelings of what was happening around the time you kept hearing it ..

Great replacement lyrics - btw - and great song too ..

Thanks, Nicole, and you're right - no 'sad' songs in the disco genre 😉 They were ALWAYS about the happy vibes.

Thanks for this Stone. I was just telling my children a few days ago about how musicians once upon a time released albums that had a whole theme and thread from the opening to closing track. I remember reading liner notes - wanting to get a deeper glimpse into the story behind the creation, and somehow savour the experience more too.

Pleasure was mine ☺️

Kids today have been robbed of so many wonderful experiences, in this era of instant information and immediate satisfaction. We were more blessed than even we realized.

It’s so true. You know though…the beauty in it is that so many of them are taking an interest in bringing some of these things from our childhood back to life.

My son is 11 now, but when he was 5, he went through this phase where he was obsessed with 80s pop….Belinda Carlisle specifically 😂 Then he moved to 90s R&B when he was 7. If you look at his Spotify list, you’d never believe it belongs to a kid of this generation. It reads like a 40 plus year olds list of nostalgia tracks 😂😂☺️

This is why I love my albums. There’s just no substitute! I’m so happy you’re passing on that knowledge to your children. ❤️

Thank you!!! Music has saved my life on so many occasions too. I think sharing these stories with one another about our experiences with certain tracks and albums is such a love language 😻😻

Was a whole ‘process’ wasn’t it? - that buying the album and then reading to cover ... all just after placing the record on the record player ( carefully !!! ‘Don’t break the needle!’ 😂😂😂) .. almost like the ‘mindful act of playing the record’ 😍😅.. reading the cover over and over while listening - trying to get some sort of special inside info about the musicians ..

Or scratch the record!

Music saved my life. I grew up in a very abusive and toxic home. Van Halen got me through the dark times. I know that sounds weird. It's simply true.

Not weird at all; Ozzy pulled me through some unpleasant 'home' moments in my youth. I get it 100%...

Nice! You know what song I heard last night that hit me? Came on the radio while driving. It’s a song by this band you don’t think of that often but when you hear it it’s like “Hell yeah.” Genesis- Just a Job to Do. Thought I’d share cause it was last night and reading this piece.

Music has helped me through so many things. I am grateful to musicians (and writers!!!) for putting things into words that I couldn’t ever even begin to know how to. Thanks for the wonderful post and the happy earworm.

Loved disco when disco wasn’t cool.

One song never fails to bring me up is “Listen to the music”. Ah those Doobie Brothers. Thanks for the memories!

I wrote about how music imprints on us as adolescents; no matter what, that's our music. My first two cassettes I bought as a 12 or 13 year old were RUSH 2112 and .38 Special Rockin into the Night.

Keep Rockin

It definitely was a process!!! When CDs came along, we still had the booklet too ☺️Now, artists are focused only on catchy singles. There are very few releases that are good from start to finish anymore sadly.
