Dark but excellent and Lauren is right - the perfect Johnny Cash type piece.

Thanks so much, Kevin - and I definitely accept the Cash thoughts as a high compliment :-)

Would have loved to hear Johnny Cash sing that.

Good eye, Lauren - Cash has always been an inspiration when I have written these ballad-esque works.

Nice catch 🫡 ☺️

I just found an AI site that you can enter your text into and it will have Johnny cash read or sing your poem. It’s called Vocalize.

Ethics aside that’s pretty cool. https://www.vocalize.fm/voices/114

WOW. That’s heavy but yes, I can almost hear Johnny Cash singing that. 💙💫

I see I'm not the only one who heard Johnny Cash in this poem. Specially the song I Hung My Head. But your rendition is more satisfying. Did you have any real life inspiration?

Hmm... let's put it this way, Christine. When I initially wrote it, I had a friend in mind who was dealing with a horrific situation. So, in manner of speaking, yes. Sadly.

By the way - props for the 'I Hung My Head' reference. That's a fairly deep Cash cut, and one of my favorite tunes... :-)
