I have found my people! Just had 3 delicious slices of pig fat with my heavily buttered (real butter only) scrambled eggs with cheese this morning.

And, as one who has studied nutrition for 25+ years that cholesterol from fatty foods rhetoric is BS.

My cholesterol numbers are “naturally” high. Record breaking track athlete at 18 years old and my first blood work was 225 total. Today it’s 240. All my good cholesterol is off the charts and bp is 110/63. Anyhoo, ain’t none of us gettin outta here alive so life without bacon is not part of my ‘aging with grace’ plan. I’m in…lol

May I offer one humble directive (I hesitate to call it a commandment)?

Thou Shall Not Burn Thy Bacon.

Stone Bryson's avatar

LOL I was tempted to include preparation directives, but as there shall be Baconists who prefer "extra crispy"... and one person's "burnt" is another person's "perfection?"

We must be understanding of their preferences ;-)

Hmm. This I must ponder. There is wisdom in bacon.

What about this directive?

Bacon Shall Not Be Canadian

Canadian “bacon” is simply ham.

Bacon trivia. If your doc is always telling you that your “bad”cholesterol is too high try this: eat a pound of greasy fat bacon before you start your 12 hour fast. LDL will be lower for the test. Heard it from a “friend”

I can neither confirm nor deny the validity of this advice... but it makes sense to me :-)

I did it a while back and it worked. I quit worrying about LDL so I don’t care what the doc says about it anymore. All cause mortality stats slightly favors higher LDL, you can look it up. LDL is just a scam to promote statin drugs. IMAO.

Now that’s one I can get behind, lol. Bacon is the only reason I’m not a vegetarian. I can give up steak, even the chicken strips. But bacon is just too delicious.

Danged right, sister! :-) Back in the late-80's I had a brief flirtation with vegetarianism when living out of state; I came home and told my grandma, and she was like, "You look malnourished - shut up and sit at the table." That morning she cooked Bacon and eggs... and I never looked back LOL

Welcome to Baconism ;-)

I love bacon and ham, but never eat it. First reading your post I was reminded of The Conversion segment of Seinfeld

Father-priest: Well whatever it is, basically you like the religion?

George: Yes.

Father-priest 2: Is there one aspect of the faith that you find particularly attractive?

George: (he thinks) I think the hats. The hat convey that solemn religious

look you want in a faith. Very pious.

Father-priest: Are you familiar with Orthodox theology?

George: Well perhaps, not to the extent that you are. But I know the basic

A delightful post, Stone! Or should I say delectable! I love bacon! There is a family ran grocery, in Ashland IL, called by their name (of course) Jones Market! They have to best!

Cannot believe I missed this. It’s on court record that I am starting the cult of “Mind your own business and you’ll be busy all the time” but I would much rather join your’s. I recommend filing for your 501c3 tax exempt status immediately. Cooking bacon now 😂 Bacon….something I can truly champion these days.

See, I had hoped that Baconism could bring together the masses! All Hail Bacon! LOL Oh, and the 'Mind Your Own Business...' cult is not-at-all in conflict with Baconism... so put them together! :-D

BTW, I griddled up some Bacon before work this morning... :-)

*Gets to work on his legal documentation ;-)
