You are so right, Stone. Everything is laced these days with (nonsugar) sugar, but I totally get it that you want to have a moderate dose on some foods by choice. And even if it does steal some months of life, you will at least have enjoyed it ☺️
Having said that, I hope I’ll be able to enjoy your writings for a very long time to come 🙂
Absolutely, Joyce - always value our interactions, and when one spurs me toward an article? I gotta show the appreciation 😉
And yeah, life certainly has its share of risks - to be able to fully enjoy my foods and beverages MIGHT be one of those, but one I am willing to take as long as the action is 'nautral' ☺️
You are much better off eliminating sugar and corn from your diet. And pretty much everything in the grocery store that’s prepackaged is spiked with sugar, and or corn or too much salt. Thank you for bringing this to light @Stone
I'll probably enjoy 'natural' sugar in moderation until the day I die 😂 But I will continue to work toward eliminating the HFCS products (and the lab-sweeteners) from my life 😌
And you know something? I genuinely do not believe we are supposed to consume even 'regular' corn... but that is fodder for a different piece 😉
I gave up carrots for snicker bars when I found out they had more sugar than processed sugar! 🤣
When I was a kid growing up in a mostly German family I was allowed to drink wine when I was six years old. My brothers and I had tiny souvenir beer mugs, which held about a taste of wine. 🍷 by the time I was 16 I was drinking a full glass of wine during our family weekend meals. All of my friends were jealous because they weren’t allowed alcohol. But we weren’t given any sweets except birthday cakes on birthdays etc. Halloween snd Christmas time candy.
So when my teenage friends were out sneaking alcohol, I was out sneaking candy. 🍭 🍫 🍬 🤫
As to the comment advising “getting away” from the national and international current events coverage, I would say that it is necessary to stay informed but with a great deal of detachment. We should try to keep the enemy in our view so as to not be surprised or deceived by them. Or miss an opportunity to mock them.
That's an excellent point, Charles, something for which I have been striving; the balance between being informed and being invested. The latter tends to lead to misery, since they is really nothing tangible we can do about it (at least not on the proverbial 'big stage'), but we still need to remain informed enough to see what is coming before it comes, that we can prepare.
Besides, if I buried my head in the sand entirely? This Substack would get pretty boring, pretty quickly - it kind of lives or dies in part through me keeping people informed, after all 😉
Thanks Stone! Everything in good measures! Could not agree more! Our food seems to be compromised no matter what we look at.. Pesticides, heavy metals, GMO and of course sugar being added to everything, even canned tomatoes.. and so much more..
The trick these days, all around, seems to not get too caught up in the dramatizing and enjoy our life.
I would definitely stay away from the artificial sweeteners. Anything artificial for that matter. If its not the real thing its fake and should not be consumed. I've found that honey does replace and inhance many recipes.
I'm on board with you on Nikki. Vance was never on my radar and I still believe there are many better picks but it's not my choice to make. Trust is a far reach for me these days but at this point I have to trust that DJT has the ability with the information he has to put the right people in the right places. Time will tell and we shall see.
So true on the sugar. I too came full circle and now sprinkle sugar here and there.
Something else I've done is learn ways of using honey and maple syrup, that's about as unprocessed a sweetner you can find. Oh yea, and stevia.
The truth is, Big Sugar (and Big Wheat) have been pushing this crap into our food for so long, you can't pick up a box or can of anything at any normal grocery store w/o it being loaded with sugar/wheat. It's used like a filler.
I literally checked a honey packet at a Popeyes once, it said H-O-N-E-Y in huge letters, completely filling up the packet on one side. I flipped it over, got out my phone to magnify the tiny print on the other side and read...ingredients: honey, HFCS. WTF!
My only non water drink is a blended lemon pulp with a pinch of ginger and just enough honey to not be bitter. I don’t know the recipe as it’s my daughters concoction. I just can’t say no to it as a strict carnivore
I don’t know a lot about Nikki, but when I saw her writing messages on Israeli artillery shells, that was all I really needed to know. If Trump wants some kind of insurance policy against “funny business” if he elected, Vance may be a good choice because for some reason the Left really doesn’t want him.
I’ve always felt that you have to be willing to accept some amount of time off the end to enjoy a bit of the rest of your life. Nothing is free, especially indulgences.
Great post and thank you for making it free (Hate to free load but times are as tough as they have ever been in my neck of the woods). Big congrats on your 200th!🥳🎉
Honey is the best sweetener in my opinion.
I stay away from most news since, as you indicated, everything is a lie, an embellishment, or flat out fabrications anyway. With the advances in AI, I believe the “Biden” we are seeing on the video addresses is an AI NPC and I further believe the “Biden” we see walking around is a stand-in.
My fear is that Trump will put Haley in a cabinet position. You are correct about her, she should be trusted as far as you can throw her and that might be too much!
I am slowly cutting back on my sugar intake so as not to freak out my internals. Moderation is key as with all things. I find organic agave nectar to be a good substitute and try to mix in as little as possible with my coffee. Beet sugar just doesn’t seem to work, but I’m still trying. Local is the way. Honey is something I just can’t get enough of but not my coffee. Thanks Stoner

I just drink diet distilled water has all my sweet dreams of no diabetes covered

Well said and agree with you, Charlotte.
Thank you sol!

Great comment, brother, appreciate the thoughts!

That IS the trick indeed, An - very well put!
Thanks for the wonderful comment AND the gracious words ☺️

Good stuff man, keep it coming.

Thanks for the mention Stone. And the news brief. I have an essay in the works about sweeteners but I can’t get sweet all the way on it yet. 🤷🏻♂️😎
Thank you, Dee, for the great article - appreciate ya here!
And I shall look forward to you getting sweet on the sweet article about sweets 😉😁
