That is beautiful! The pain, the pull, and the loss of yesterdays! Thank you for sharing it. And so glad you have passed thru that time or maybe I should say by sharing it and possibly helping someone else to have hope you have redeemed that time.

Thank you so much, Holly - I appreciate the kind words <3

And yes, that is my hope, that anyone who may read this not only enjoys the poetic vibes, but can also - if in difficult circumstances - see that (no matter the struggle within or without) there IS hope :-)

I know this place.

Not a place to set up camp or build a homestead, but most certainly a necessary stop along the way...lending to us the depth and dimension required for journeying the rest of the road.❤️

To round itself out, life calls not for perfection but for completeness; and for this the “thorn in the flesh” is needed, the suffering of defects without which there is no progress and no ascent. ~Carl Jung, CW 12, Par 208.

That’s beautiful, Stone. It’s the deep vales we can go through until we find the hills again and climb out, step by step (and even baby steps are steps), sometimes 3 steps forward and 1 step back as the hill’s path is long.

A beautiful reminder we can get through 💙🙏💫

I love your poetry. You have such a gift in conveying such emotional depth through rhyme and cadence. Even with the darker themes in this one, I could totally relate because you bring our humanity to life on a page. Much love and respect 🙏🏾🤗✨

Thanks for sharing my friend. We all have been there in one way or another. The key is redemption—and rising out of that place. You’ve done that. Remember it to keep yourself vigilant 🙏

"the map I’ve called my instincts

proved to be a lousy guide," That's a great line, very relatable.

It's interesting you mentioned not feeling too bad at the time you wrote this. I look back on a lot of my old work, some pretty dark stuff too, and I recall a similar feeling. Like, I was writing bleak stuff, but I wasn't really in that bad of a place. I recall often feeling pretty good after writing a dark bit of prose, like it released some of that darkness in me, a sort of creative and cathartic form of shadow work if you will.

You know Seamus, I have never considered that, how writing dark verse could be a form a 'shadow-work' - powerful ideas, man.

Thanks, brother - wise comment and concept...

Stone, amazing poem!!! Before I offer comments, I always peruse the other comments before I press "post". I see that others are also reacting the way I am, with deep understanding of the travails we all go through in this material realm. I particularly liked this line: " I cannot wrap my mind around…

how I ended up with this,

the future of my youth that

dissipated in the mist,"

If that does not evoke the journey from youth to Elder age, I don't know what does! As an Elder of 71, I can fully embrace all this, Stone. The stark downs through the valley of the shadow are with each and every one of us. I am blessed to even be alive, after all the stupid things I have done...but I humbly salute you for keeping on-keeping on and inspiring others with your journey. I think we all are here to essentially pour out our hearts and souls to the world, so others can hear and hopefully learn along the way. I always partner with God and His Son, after my disastrous 35-year meander into darkness, not fun and I do not intend to repeat that. I hope all our painful learnings will help someone else coming up behind us. WEW
